Our Work
As the SC branch of the AATF, we are excited to offer many activities and collaborative events. If you are interested in participating, please review the information below.
Juniors & Seniors
The establishment of a chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français offers several benefits to a secondary French program. It provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding scholarship in the study of French, to place a special seal on the graduate’s diploma, to wear a tri-colored cord or a stole at graduation, and to wear the honor society’s official regalia.
November
This week-long celebration will take place in schools and communities and AATF chapters across the U.S. in order to share the love of everything French and francophone!
The National French Contest/Le Grand Concours is an annual competition where students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a written test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes.
Elementary and Middle School
The Jeunes Amis du Français (JAF) functions similarly to the SHF. Any middle or elementary school teacher can request a JAF Charter for a one-time fee. Because of the diversity of middle school and elementary school programs, a school must select the Cultural or Academic option. Each chapter must induct students at least once per year in order to remain active.
